FSU Kicker Has Unbelievable Year In 2013

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – Kickers are often the forgotten man on a football team. But the 2013 Lou Groza Award winner, Florida State University kicker Roberto Aguayo, put up some phenomenal numbers this season.

Aguayo hit 19 of his 20 kicks this season, a 95 percent clip, and also hit all 90 of the extra points he tried as a freshman. He also averaged 60.8 yards per kickoff this season and 37.2 percent of those kickoffs were touchbacks.

But perhaps the most telling stat of how well not only Aguayo was in 2013, but also the entire Florida State team was this: Aguayo outscored Seminoles opponents 147-139 by himself.

Aguayo averaged 11.3 points per game in 2013 compared to FSU opponents that averaged 10.7 points per game this season. Overall, FSU outscored its opponents, 689-139 in 2013.
