Name Of Teen Found In Burning Lauderdale Lakes Home Released

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Investigators have released the name of the person whose body was found inside a Lauderdale Lakes home after a fire.

Broward Sheriff's Homicide detectives have not said how 18-year old Richard Reid was killed, nor are they releasing other details about his death. They said Reid lived at the house.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue firefighters received a call about a fire in a home, at 5061 N.W. 41 Street, 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Smoke was billowing from the windows when rescue crews first arrived, according the BSO Spokesperson Dani Moschella.

First responders made entry through an open side door, Moschella said.

That's when they found a body inside.

"Junior," a family friend, said he knew Reid.

"He's a good kid. I haven't seen him in any activities that would cost him his life."

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
