Police Searching For Thanksgiving Day Shooters

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A holiday turned tragic for a Northwest Miami-Dade County family Thanksgiving night.

Police said that just after 8 p.m. Thursday, shots rang out in the 2100 block of NW 100th Street. When the dust settled, a father of seven laid dead on the ground.

The man, Craig Garvin, 38, was shot after his daughter said he received a phone call at his home.

"They're saying somebody called him outside on the phone," Garvin's daughter Cranisha said. "Then they got out of the car and shot him up. They set him up."

Craig Garvin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The family of the victim pushed through the crime tape and ran across the street yelling and crying as soon as they heard what happened.

Police were still searching for the shooters and Garvin's family was heartbroken and searching for answers.

"I feel so sad. I feel so bad to see all these here," Garvin's aunt Lula Scott said. "I feel bad. I feel so sorry for his mom."

Miami-Dade Police believe two gunmen were involved in the shooting and are asking for the public's help identifying them.

If you have information about the shooting, you're asked to call Miami-Dade County Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
