Name Of Woman Who Died In Dania Canal Crash Released

DANIA BEACH (CBSMiami) - The Broward Sheriff's Office has released the name of the woman whose body was pulled from a Dania Beach canal on Monday.

A sheriff's department dive team recovered the body of 20-year old Tania Carranza from inside her 2004 gold Honda Accord.

Sheriff's investigators say Carranza was driving on Old Griffin Road when, for some reason, she veered off the road in clearing in the 1200 block and drove into the Dania Beach cut-off canal. The car floated for about two blocks before it sank.

Carranza, who lived in Pembroke Pines, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The sheriff's office said the investigation into Carranza's death is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
