Deadline Approaching On Common Core Input

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) – Have an opinion or comment on the state's Common Core academic standards for language arts and math you want to share? Better hurry as the deadline is almost here.

With 13,000 comments already in, the final deadline for Florida citizens to submit comments is Thursday, October 31st.

The state Board of Education will review the comments at their meeting in Gainesville on November 19th.

Governor Rick Scott issued an executive order earlier this year also instructing the department to hold three public meetings on the standards.

The standards set grade-by-grade expectations on what a student should know. They have been adopted by 45 states and the District of Columbia.

Anyone who would like to comment on the standards can do so online at www.flstandards.org or via email to flstandards@fldoe.org.
