Crews Will Try To Recover Bodies From Virginia Plane Crash

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami/AP) — Recovery crews will try again Monday to recover the bodies and remove the wreckage of a Cessna 340 that crashed last week in Virginia's Great Dismal Swamp.

Ted Bradshaw, his wife and her sister and brother-in-law boarded the twin propeller Cessna 340 Thursday in Fort Lauderdale. They were headed to a family wedding in Virginia.

Sunrise Fire-Rescue said in a statement that Ted Bradshaw was a 33-year veteran of the department. He retired in 2005 after rising to the rank and serving as an assistant fire chief.

Four hours after takeoff, the plane fell off the radar and never arrived at the airport. It wasn't until Friday when the wreckage was spotted by a private helicopter crew in a swampy, hard to reach area.

Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says crews brought an excavator and a pump to the crash site on Sunday to remove debris and water near the wreckage.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
