MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A teen remains in critical condition after he was hit by a car over weekend.

It happened Sunday evening around 8 p.m. in the intersection of Kendall Drive and SW 77th Avenue.

Witnesses told police the teen, 17-year odl Alvaro Orozco Rojas, was crossing the street when he was struck.

After the accident, the driver of the black Nissan, identified as 21-year old Trevor Renner from North Carolina, stopped and remained on the scene for the police.

The injured teen was taken to Miami Children’s Hospital.

Investigators said it does not appear that alcohol played a role in the accident.
