FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Ft. Lauderdale police are hoping surveillance video helps them identify a man who robbed a Walgreens on Sunrise Boulevard early Tuesday morning.

Around 6:35 a.m. the man approached a register and handed the clerk some cash to pay for his items. When the register opened, police say the man leaned over the counter and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man then ran outside to his car, described as being a compact silver sedan, possibly a Honda or Hyundai.

“I saw this wackadoodle walking back and forth and I’m like what the hell is this wackadoodle doing?” said Emese Kiss who witnessed the incident.

When Kiss walked in, she watched the crime as it happen.

“All of a sudden I hear, ‘Ayyy. Help! And I look over and he’s over the counter and I don’t know exactly what he’s talking about,” said Kiss.

When he attempted to drive off, Kiss thought she could help stop the guy used her vehicle to block his car. That’s when the man produced a gun and demanded that she move.

“He turned around and took a gun out. I don’t know if it was real. It could have been plastic. I’m not sure?” said Kiss who said she moved very quickly out of his way.

“I’m angry that I didn’t get him,” said Kiss.

Authorities believe the last three letters of the suspect’s license plate may be J-Z-I.
