HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – Jimmy’s Buffett’s island-themed paradise on Hollywood Beach becomes a reality Thursday as developers of the Margaritaville Resort break ground on the project.

The ground breaking is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Hollywood Bandshell on Johnson Street.

Buffett will not be able to attend because he’s on tour.

Most of the demolition to make way for the project has been completed and the Johnson Street parking garage closed in July.

The complex will include a 349-room hotel, seven restaurants, shops and a pool with a wave ride.

The resort is expected to open in 2015.
