MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former Miami Dolphins linebacker John Offerdahl has become the 26th person ever selected for the team's Honor Roll.

Offerdahl was selected in the second round of the 1986 NFL Draft out of Western Michigan University. Offerdahl immediately became a linchpin in the Dolphins defense and was a five-time Pro Bowl linebacker between 1986 and 1990.

He was also named NFL Rookie of the Year in 1986.

The former WMU Bronco also was selected for inductions into the Mid-American Conference Hall of Fame earlier this year. Offerdahl was a two-time Associated Press All-American while in college and has conference career records for tackles with 694 and school records for recovered fumbles and is second in forced fumbles.

Offerdahl has also been a very successful restaurant entrepreneur opening several highly profitable eating establishments in the Sunshine State.

The Dolphins will officially honor Offerdahl during halftime of the primetime October 31 game between the Fins and the Cincinnati Bengals.
