Alton Road Flyover Set To Open Late Tuesday

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) - For almost a month, Miami Beach residents and visitors may have been inconvenienced due to construction that closed the Alton Road flyover. But according to Florida Department of Transportation, the flyover is set to reopen Tuesday night.

According to the FDOT District 6, the flyover from eastbound MacArthur Causeway to northbound Alton Rd is scheduled to reopen Tuesday evening-- which is ahead of schedule.

The project, which started on July 16th, was estimated to take approximately a month. If the flyover project would have run behind schedule, the contractor was going to be charged $5,000 a day for up to five days.

The flyover had the guardrail replaced and base rebuilt during the construction project.
