Swimsuit Models Try Out For Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) - It's that time again, for girls with dreams of being a super model to strut their stuff in the hopes of being chosen as a runway model in the "Superbowl" of swim shows, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim.

"For swim week, this is the most professional and prestigious platforms that Nicolita, and any other swimwear brand, can become a part of," said Nicole DiRocco, the designer and creator of Nicolita Swimwear.

Nicolita is one of 20 chosen to participate in the official shows kicking off this week.

At the Surfcomber Hotel, on Tuesday, Nicole teamed up with exloremodeling.com to host the third annual nationwide model casting, the culmination of a two-month online digital casting call. A total of 1200 applied online, and only 10 will be chosen to walk in the show.

"I'm offering that dream to these girls because a lot of girls I've done, weren't signed with a modeling agency but got signed right after," said Nicole.

"I love doing this because you get to see real girls that haven't signed with an agency or dreamed about modeling and  suddenly they're walking in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim," said Christina Dehart of exploremodeling.com

The Nicolita line is known for its, "Cuban style bottoms." They are for real looking women, no matter their size, height or experience level.

This will be a first time at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week for model Nicole Kulvany from Miami, if she gets chosen.

"It's gorgeous, and sexy and everyone that's going to be a part of it is going to be rocking the hottest swimwear. I can't wait," said  Nicole.

Model Cristina Rivera already knows she's part of the show and also knows exactly how these girls are feeling.

"It's gut wrenching," said Rivera. "You have no idea what is  going to  happen and you just pray  and hope and keep your fingers crossed that you've got what it takes ."

Erica Kennedy is hoping it's her time.

"I was really nervous but I walked my best. I did my best" said Erica.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim officially kicks off Thursday night at The Raleigh South Beach. The Nicolita show takes place Saturday, July 20th at 8pm.
