Coast Guard Receives New Cutter

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – The United States Coast Guard in Miami Beach received a sixth and final vessel in the sentinel-class Fast Response Cutter fleet Saturday. The cutters will have a home port of Miami.

The sixth sentinel-class patrol boat arrived Saturday and is named the Coast Guard Cutter Paul Clark. The boat is scheduled to be commissioned into service August 24.

The boat will help provide support operations in the Seventh Coast Guard District, which ranges from the South Carolina coast to the Caribbean, or approximately 1.8 million square nautical miles.

The 154-foot Paul Clark is a Fast Response Cutter capable of independently deploying to conduct missions such as ports, waterways, and coastal security, fishery patrols, drug and illegal migrant law enforcement, search and rescue, and national defense along the Gulf of Mexico, according to the Coast Guard.
