School Bells To Ring A Little Later Next Year At Some Broward Schools
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Students of nearly two dozen Broward public schools will have new start and dismissal times when they head back to class this fall.
On Tuesday, the county's School Board approved adjusting the opening and closing school times at 23 schools and centers in an effort to save the district more than $500,000 in transportation costs.
2013-2014 School Time Change Summary
For most schools, the change will amount from five- to 15-minute differences in start and dismissal times. Two schools, Early Learning Center of Sunland Park and College Academy of Lauderhill, will see a time shift of one hour. The Wingate Oaks Center will see a difference of two and a half hours.
Changes in bell times will streamline bus routes and help fill the buses so they have to make fewer runs.
