Hundreds Of Cars Towed After Fierce Flooding In Aventura

AVENTURA (CBSMiami) - From Miami-Dade to Broward, heavy rains made Friday night a soggy mess—and the City of Aventura was no exception.

The flooding rains, between the hours of 3 PM and 3 AM, caused major traffic congestion in the city and resulted in approximately 150 vehicles being towed from roadways.

The extensive flooding caused several vehicles disabled in several parking lots and medians, according to the city's press release.

Aventura Police Department worked through the evening to clear the roadways of vehicles stranded from the flooding.

One car reportedly submerged into a pond at the 2900 block of Aventura Boulevard. The driver of the submerged vehicle was able to escape without injuries.

All though most of the accumulated rain water had subsided by the morning, drivers were encouraged to continue with care.

The relentless rains, while it did cause damage to vehicles and limited crashes were reported, didn't cause any life-threatening injuries.
