Preps For The Miami-Dade Fair & Expo Underway

WEST MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) -- The West Miami-Dade skyline is taking on a familiar appearance as the rides, tents and attractions go up for the annual Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition.

Preparations are in full swing as the fair prepares to open on Thursday, March 14th, which is perfect timing for South Florida students who will be out of school for Spring Break starting on the 22nd.

The Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition is ranked the largest in the state of Florida and will be celebrating its 62nd year when it kicks off its 18-day run on Thursday.

Ranked the largest fair in the state, the 18-day festival featuring rides, live performances, fair food, and livestock and agricultural competitions, attracts more than half a million visitors every year and exhibits the academic and artistic work of more than 45,000 local students.

Be sure to save the dieting for later because the food vendors are bringing back all the fair favorites including elephant ears, roasted corn, candy apples, and more.

General admission is $10 for adults and children, free for children five years of age and younger but there are plenty of deals to be had on admission and tickets.
