MIAMI (CBSMiami) – For the sixth year in a row, auto repairs topped Miami-Dade’s list of consumer complaints.

According to the county’s Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources, in 2012 the department’s Consumer Protection Mediation Center received a total of 696 complaints dealing with auto repairs.   This was actually an improvement over last year when they received 974 complaints concerning auto repairs.

For hire transportation (taxis and the like) came in second place with 394 complaints.  Housing service rounded out the third spot with 175 complaints. Towing was close in the fourth spot with 171 complaints.

Most consumer complaints were related to monetary losses or dissatisfaction with products or services.

For the sixth consecutive year, the department hit the million-dollar mark for recoveries. Through its free mediation services designed to settle disputes between consumers and businesses, the Consumer Protection Mediation Center recovered the sum of $1,212,198 in reimbursements for consumers.
