Miami H.S. Student Among Winners In Key Largo Bridge Run

KEY LARGO (CBSMiami) — Two south Floridians won overall men's and women's half-marathon titles Saturday at the annual Key Largo Bridge Run in the Florida Keys.

Peter Frezza of Tavernier won his title at the Key Largo Bridge Run Saturday with a time of one hour, 17 minutes and 38 seconds. Dana Thomas, a high school student in Miami, ran 01:39:26.

The out-and-back foot race crossed the 65-foot-high, 1.25-mile-long Jewfish Creek Bridge and the southern portion of the 18-Mile Stretch, a segment of the Florida Keys Overseas Highway betweenFlorida City and Key Largo.

Winners in the 10K division were Mark Terrill of Islamorada, and Erinn Cowell of Tequesta.

Top honors in the 5K men's and women's divisions went to Miami's Jon Williams and Lauretta Bailin of Amesbury, Mass.

The event attracted 885 participants.
