Something Extra: Live Free or Fly?

MIAMI (CBS4) - I hate giving companies free publicity, but occasionally, marketing gimmicks are too good to ignore.

Alec Baldwin was famously said to have threatened to leave the country if George Bush beat Al Gore.  Susan Sarandon said she would if McCain beat Obama.  Singers Seal and Eddie Vedder are among other Hollywood celebrities who seem to pop up every election year, saying they'll say goodbye to the U.S., usually if the Republican candidate is elected.

Now, JetBlue is offering a way for Americans to make good on their threats if their candidate doesn't win.

In a promotion called "Election Protection, Live Free or Fly," the airline will give away two thousand twelve seats, that's one thousand six round trip flights (assuming you want to come back), for customers whose candidate is defeated at the polls next month.

I'm not sure a free trip is much consolation for having your candidate lose the election, but a few days on the beach in the Bahamas or Costa Rica can't hurt.
