Comcast Service Cut In South Miami-Dade

SOUTH MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) - If you live in South Miami-Dade and you get your internet service from Comcast, you're relying on a friend to tell you this. A major outage for South Florida's dominant cable-tv and internet provider has left a large part of South Miami-Dade unplugged.

The utility could not say exactly who was affected or how many subscribers were out, but it does know why everyone is missing their soap operas, doctor shows, and news updates on the Colorado shootings.

Spokesperson Spero Canton said a construction crew ripped out approximately 1 thousand feet of fiber optic cable, used to link parts of the cable system together.

No fiber optics means no internet and no TV.

The good news is Comcast expects to have the outage fixed by the end of the day, just in time for weekend sports.
