Keys Facebook Contest Seeks Hemingway Look-alikes

KEY WEST (CBSMiami) – Has anyone ever said to you that you look like Ernest Hemingway? If so, the Florida Keys tourism council wants you.

An annual Ernest Hemingway look-alike contest in the Florida Keys is now seeking entries online.

The winner of the Virtual "Papa" Hemingway Look-Alike Contest will win a trip to Key West to compete in a preliminary round of the real Sloppy Joe's "Papa" Hemingway Look-Alike Contest. The competition takes place at Sloppy Joe's Bar during Key West's annual Hemingway Days festival, set for July 17-22.

The online contest began Friday on the Florida Keys tourism council's Facebook page.

Stocky, bearded men who resemble Hemingway, who lived and wrote in Key West throughout the 1930s, can submit photos through June 22.

Public voting is scheduled June 23-29 to choose 10 finalists to be judged by past look-alike winners.

The winner of the virtual contest will be announced July 2.

The Hemingway Days festival also features a marlin tournament and a short story contest coordinated by the author's granddaughter, Lorian Hemingway.
