Former Teacher Sentenced For Sex Acts With Student
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A former teacher at Rickards Middle School in Oakland Park has been sentenced to eight years in prison after he pled guilty to engaging in sex acts with an eighth grader.
In a deal worked out with prosecutors, Orville Edwards, 38, will be on ten years of sex-offender probation when he's released from prison, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
Edwards was arrested in April 2010 after police were tipped off that had sent explicit text messages to the teen's phone. At the time she told them and Edwards had engaged in sex acts in the school's science lab.
