Man Trying To Free Bike Struck, Killed By Train

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami/AP) – A Pompano Beach man trying to free his bike from a section of railroad track in Pompano Beach was struck and killed by an oncoming train.

Broward Sheriff's detectives believe the death of 45-year-old James Marine was accidental.

The sheriff's office report said last Friday night as Marine struggled to free his bike from the tracks at the McNab Road crossing the train approached.  The train conductor attempted to slow down the train, but Marine was struck and killed.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue pronounced the man dead on the scene.

The investigation continues. Authorities are waiting for results from an autopsy and toxicology report.
