We're In For Another Soggy Afternoon
MIAMI (CBS4) – South Florida got off to a soggy start on Thursday thanks to heavy overnight rain and some lingering showers in the morning.
CBS4 meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez said some areas picked up close to two and a half inches of rain. There have been reports of some minor flooding and cars hydroplaning on slick roads. Commuters should drive cautiously due to the dangerous conditions.
By mid-morning the showers should let up but expect storms in the afternoon due to plenty of moisture moving in from the Gulf of Mexico combined with a trough of low pressure off to our North and West. Some storms may be strong with lightning, gusty winds and some heavy downpours leading to 2 to possibly 5 inches of rain across portions of South Florida.
The National Weather Service reports there's about a 60 percent chance of rain on Thursday and the storm chance remains high through Friday as a frontal boundary slowly sags South across the peninsula. Saturday we'll see a mix of sun and storms with highs in the upper 80s. Sunday some drier air may move in to decrease the rain chance a bit.
