UM Graduation May Snarl Traffic

CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – As University of Miami graduates prepare to turn their tassels to the left Thursday evening, drivers in Coral Gable will likely be stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

The University of Miami will be holding its commencement ceremonies Thursday through Saturday in the late afternoon and early evening  at the Bank United Center.

That usually brings one major problem with it, traffic.

Drivers should expect traffic heading to the Gables alongside S.R. 826, U.S. 1, Ponce de Leon Blvd. and surrounding local streets including Alhambra Circle, Stanford Drive, Granada Boulevard and University Drive starting Thursday afternoon.

The scheduled times for the commencement ceremonies are:

  • Thursday 4 p.m.
  • Friday 8:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 5 p.m.
  • Saturday 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Each ceremony is expected to last around two hours, but traffic is anticipated to last before and after the scheduled time of commencement.
