MIRAMAR (CBSMiami) – A man was killed in Miramar Saturday when, according to witnesses, his car went out of control, headed toward a canal, and as they watched, was smashed by a large truck. The driver of the truck apparently survived.

The full details of the accident are still unclear, but witness Sheryl Green said she was sitting at a bus stop with others when she spotted a white car traveling along the road, in the 6900 block of SW 41st Street.

“We saw the car start weaving back and forth,” she said. “It was all over the place. He thought it might hit the bus stop.”

But instead, she said the car took a turn toward a nearby canal. Before it could fall in, the car apparently rolled over, and was hit by a large red truck, Green said.

The driver was trapped inside. She said others came to try to help, and police arrived almost immediately, but when officers covered the body, it was clear the driver was dead.

The only information about the accident has come from witnesses. Investigators have yet to comment on the cause, or to provide any information about the name of the victim.
