Homestead Teen Charged In Deadly Shooting

HOMESTEAD (CBSMiami) – Police have charged a 17-year old Homestead teen in a shooting Tuesday which left one person dead and two others injured.

Investigators say the shooting happened just before midnight in front of home in the 3400 block of NE 3rd Drive in Homestead. Witnesses reportedly told police Banave Fleurant, 21; Elizabeth Lustin, 18 and Callebe Benecho, 13, had to gone to the home because of a dispute.

As the dispute grew more heated, the teen's arrest affidavit reports a fist fight broke out. At one point, according to the report, the teen grabbed and a gun and, standing in the door way, "began shooting indiscriminately into the crowd of combatants."

Both Lustin and Benecho were hit by bullets. When Fleurant tried to escape, the teen reportedly continued to shoot at him until he dropped. According to the report, the teen then went over to Fleurant, stood over the injured, defenseless man and shot him several more times. As Fleurant laying dying on the ground, the teen took off on foot.

He was later found at his home where he reportedly confessed to the shooting.

The teen has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of second degree murder.
