Dayton Downs FIU 61-40

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Alex Gavrilovic and Josh Parker scored 14 points apiece for Dayton, and the Flyers used a big second half in a 61-40 win over Florida International Saturday night for their third straight win.

Paul Williams added 12 points for the Flyers (8-3), who won the first-ever meeting between the teams. Gavrilovic's career-high output came after he'd missed the last three games with a sprained ankle. He came in with 13 points in his last seven games.

The Flyers needed to rally to clinch this contest, though.

Dayton trailed nearly the entire first half, and the Golden Panthers led 30-22 at halftime.

But Josh Benson's jumper to open the second half and then a pair of free throws less than a minute later sparked a 15-3 Dayton run. Dayton led the rest of the way, outscoring FIU 39-10 in the second half.

Dominique Ferguson scored 20 points to lead FIU (3-8).
