Cancer Center Hosts Holiday Party For Some Special Kids

MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) – Santa came a little early for a special group of kids on Saturday.  The Children's Cancer Caring Center teamed up with the Miami Beach Convention Center to hold their annual holiday extravaganza on Saturday for children with cancer and their families.

The Children's Cancer Caring Center provides free cancer care to low income families.

Lee Klien, who founded the organization 46 years ago, said she always looks forward to this day.

"For many of the children the gifts that we give them are the only gifts they will receive on Christmas and unfortunately for some this will be their last Christmas," said Klien.

Through the years, the organization has saved thousands of lives.  Currently there are 150 patients undergoing care.

The Children's Cancer Caring Center is in great need of donations and local corporate and community partners. If you would like to contribute please contact CBS4's Jeff Berardelli and jberardelli@cbs.com or visit the website www.CaringIsTheKey.org.

The charity operates at Baptist Children's Hospital and is 100% volunteer. There are no salaries paid so that every penny of funds goes to caring for the children.
