Charges Filed Against Lauderhill Cop Who Fired At Ex-Girlfriend

DAVIE (CBS4) — A South Florida police officer was charged with first-degree attempted murder and firing a gun into an occupied vehicle.

Kristopher John Bieger is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend, who is a fellow officer, and emptying his gun into her patrol car last month before begging for more ammunition so he could commit suicide.

According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the charges were filed Friday against Bieger.

Bieger,30, is accused of firing 10 rounds at his ex-girlfriend, who was not harmed. Bieger was later arrested outside a Davie restaurant.

Court documents show Bieger had called two other officers and asked for at least one more bullet so he could kill himself.

The shooting happened Saturday, Nov 12 around 7 p.m. in the 5500 block of Oakland Boulevard, according to Lauderhill Police Captain Constance Stanley.

According to his arrest affidavit, Bieger had been dating Officer Brittny Skinner for several months.

"For the last two to three months, they have multiple verbal arguments, jealousy, mistrust, constantly calling her, harassing her," said Broward Circuit Judge John Hurley as he read from the arrest affidavit. "Finally, she broke up and said 'Do not call me anymore, stay away'."

Stanley said the female officer was working a private duty case when the shooting happened.

"Obviously she's very fortunate to still be here and not get hit," said Stanley. "He shot several times. He did miss her." One of the bullets reportedly hit the officer in her bullet proof vest.

She also said none of the other people in the busy shopping center were hit.

"A truck pulled up on the side of her car, shots rang out, it was like a movie, you know," said a witness who did not want to the identified in this report, "I was so close I had to take cover, I thought somebody was shooting at me."

After the shooting, Bieger fled and ended up at a Davie pizza restaurant in the 4800 block of Volunteer Road where the Davie police department's Special Response Team took him into custody. Employees at Donato's Ristorante watched as the team members came in through the rear of the restaurant with guns drawn and surround Bieger.

The police report says that Beiger was suicidal after the shooting, even asking a fellow officer for a bullet. He also spoke to family, the report says, admitting he just shot up Officer Skinner's car.
