Florida Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

LONGWOOD (CBSMiami/AP) – A soldier from Central Florida was killed when his unit came under attack in Afghanistan.

Theodore B. Rushing, 25, died Friday in Afghanistan's Kandahar Province. Officials say the 25-year-old died of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

Rushing, who was from Longwood, was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment; 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light), at Fort Drum, N.Y.
