Agent Pulls Back On Al Golden Contract Talk

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Less than 24 hours after he stated that the University of Miami was looking to redo football coach Al Golden's contract; Golden's agent Brett Senior sought to walk back the questions that were immediately raised.

"Al is not going anywhere," Senior told CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald. "He is so committed. All he talks to me about is how great the players are and how much he loves them. He loves his home here. His family loves it here. He's got a five-year contract. He's there to honor the contract."

That sentiment was echoed by University of Miami athletic director Shawn Eichorst later Tuesday.

"He and I are in this for the long haul," Eichorst said.

Golden was caught completely off-guard when Yahoo! Sports blew the doors off of the school's athletic department regarding impermissible benefits paid by convicted Ponzi schemer Nevin Shapiro.

The Canes head coach said UM never warned him about the looming NCAA investigation when it was interviewing and hiring him.

Senior told the Herald that he's had no contact with the school regarding Golden.

"We're having no discussions with Miami regarding anything about his contract," Senior told the Herald. "I don't know whether anybody has reached out to Al or not."
