Sports Agenda for Wednesday (9/21/11)

Big Story:
The Dolphins continue to hit the free agent wire hoping to find some scraps that will help seal up a defense with more holes in it than Congressional testimony; Missouri is headed south?; and the Marlins further make themselves the laughing stock of baseball.
This agenda's fuller than a tick on a hound dog.
Here we go.

Firsties:
It's rare that I start out the agenda with talk about the Marlins, unless every other sports is out of season.
But thanks to the bizofbaseball.com, we got our first look at the supposedly new Marlins logo they'll use when the move to Little Havana's new Marlins stadium next year.
If you haven't seen it, here it is.

Wow, where do I start with this.
First of all, what's with all the colors? The Marlin isn't the focal point, and that M looks like the Whataburger sign upside down.
Check out the comparison:

Usually the fail is at the end of the agenda….but if this is indeed the logo…..the FAIL is strong with this one master Yoda.

College Football Update:
This story is crazier than a barrel of monkeys hitting speedballs.
Tuesday evening, Missouri was said to have a gentleman's agreement to enter the SEC as the 14th team.
The SEC denied it, Mizzou kept quiet.
Then early this morning, sources on the West Coast said the Pac-12 has no interest in expanding.
Apparently the Longhorn Network was something the greed of Texas couldn't overcome.
Plus, the Pac-12 didn't look kindly on the demands Oklahoma was putting to stay in the Big XII.
Namely, the Sooners would stay if Big XII commissioner Dan Beebe was fired(definitely needed) and the Longhorn Network put the kabash on some of their programming.
Now, Texas and OU are going to sit down and try to figure out what to do with the Big XII.
The simplest thing to do is make equal revenue sharing a part of the league; like the SEC, Pac-12, and Big Ten do.
Texas will fight that tooth and nail, but they're out of options now.
As for Mizzou, they're left in a tough spot.
Theoretically, they have the option to go to the SEC. It would be their best move.
But, if the Big XII stays together and adds a few teams, like say TCU, BYU, and others….they remain in the upper echelon of the league.
In the SEC, they're in the middle of the pack.
My gut tells me the Big XII holds together, but the SEC could always call up Oklahoma and welcome them in, though that's not likely.
Now the tough part will be putting the Big XII back together again. No one will trust anyone. If they share money, that'll go a long way towards getting everyone back on the same page.

Dolphins Update:
They signed Igor Olshansky and Nate Jones.
Olshansky was dominant opposite Luis Castillo, but was a flop in Dallas.
Of course he played for the Cowboys, so obviously he's the GREATEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD to the Fins.
Nate Jones is a former Fin who will be plugged into the anemic secondary.
When I think of people I want covering Andre Johnson, Nate Jones is definitely…..near the bottom of the list. Of course so is Nolan Carroll and Reshad Jones.
Speaking of Jones, can someone please explain to him that he has worse angles than a drunken Rene Descartes….vague reference of the day.

Marlins: (vs. Braves, 7:10 p.m., Fox Sports Florida)
The Marlins lost again last night behind the power of…..oh wait, they scored as many runs in Major League Baseball last night as I did.
Seriously, watching the Marlins is akin to watching repeated nut shots on YouTube.
You don't know why you do it, but you laugh harder and harder the worse they get.
