Romney Opens Fla. Campaign Headquarters

TAMPA, Fla. (CBSMiami.com) – One-time 2012 Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney came to the Sunshine State Friday to officially open his Florida campaign headquarters in Tampa.

Romney has gone from front-runner status to trailing controversial Texas governor Rick Perry in the race to face President Barack Obama in the 2012 Presidential election.

Romney spoke at a meeting of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Florida during the group's meeting in Tampa before opening his campaign office.

Romney came in second to John McCain in the 2008 Presidential election despite being neck and neck with McCain in pre-primary polls. Romney did well in and around Orlando, Jacksonville, and in southwest Florida during the 2008 GOP primary.
