Fire Destroys Deerfield's Crabby Jacks

DEERFIELD BEACH (CBS4) – After serving up burgers, wings and seafood for more than three decades, Crabby Jack's in Deerfield Beach is gone.

Early Sunday morning a fire ripped through the popular restaurant and bar. Deerfield Beach Fire spokesman Gary Fernaays said the building, on Federal Highway just south of 10th Street, has been declared unsafe and will likely be a total loss.

Fire crews from Pompano Beach and Ft. Lauderdale assisted in putting out the two alarm blaze.

Fernaays said the fire was difficult to contain. They were forced to work on it from the outside of the building because the roof's structure had been compromised.

A nearby Denny's restaurant was evacuated as a precaution.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
