Free Back To School Immunizations At Tamiami Park

W MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) – Just days after a report was released citing Miami-Dade for having the worst kindergarten immunization rate in the state, students will be able to get the vaccination shots they need for free at a 'Back-to School' immunization event at Tamiami Park.

Hosted by county commissioner Joe Martinez, the event will take place in the Recreation Room at the park, located at 11201 SW 24th Street, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Trained medical staff from the Miami-Dade County Health Department will be on hand to administer all the required and recommended vaccinations for children up to age 18. Children who receive their immunizations during the event will receive a free backpack, while supplies last.

In order for a child to receive immunizations, his or her parent or legal guardian must bring the child's immunization record and also be present at the time the shot is administered. In addition, staff will provide Certificates of Immunizations (Form 680 or "Blue Card") for all attendees.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools resumes classes on August 22nd.
