Students Now Have To Pay For Adult Education Classes

TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) – Adults taking classes for the high school equivalency test will now have to start paying for them.

New rules went into effect Friday which calls for Florida residents to pay $30 per term and not more than $90 a year, regardless of how many courses they take. Out-of-state residents will pay $120 per term and not more than $360 a year.

The rules also apply to courses for the English for Speakers of Other Languages and English for Language Learners tests.

Some educators worry that the fees will discourage people who are struggling financially to learn English or take courses for the General Educational Development test.
