Maurice Ferre Named To State Transportation Commission
TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) - Governor Rick Scott has given former Miami mayor Maurice Ferre a new title.
Ferre, 75, was named to the Florida Transportation Commission after the appointment by Scott on Tuesday.
He will replace Marcos Marchena, who has held the position since 2004.
Ferre has been out of the spotlight since losing a bid for the Mel Martinez's U.S. Senate seat, a post that ultimately went to Senator Marco Rubio.
No stranger to politics, Ferre served six terms as mayor of Miami and was named the only Democrat in Governor Rick Scott's transition team.
The appointment is not official until confirmed by the Florida Senate.
