Incumbent North Miami Beach Mayor Beaten In Runoff Election

NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) - Incumbent North Miami Mayor Myron Rosner will give up his seat after being beaten by political newcomer and activist George Vallejo in a runoff election Tuesday.

Vallejo garnered 57% of the vote.

In Group Three, Councilwoman Phyllis Smith, a real estate agent, defeated pharmacist Hillel Hellinger. Smith got 58 percent of the vote.

In Group Four, Councilwoman Beth Speigal retained her seat over Hans Mardy.

Councilman Frantz Pierre won the seat over opponent Michael Casey in Group Five.

In Group Seven, Marlen Martell defeated incumbent McKenzie Fermion.
