SW MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) – The west bound lanes of SW 8th Street at Krome Avenue were temporarily closed Sunday morning after a deadly accident.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said a Chevy Impala collided with an SUV as it went to turn into the popular tourist spot Gator Park located at 24050 SW 8th Street.

Fire Rescue spokesman Dan Herrera said the four women in the Impala  were visiting South Florida from Great Britain.

“The were on vacation from the UK. There were four females and that is where we had our fatality, in that vehicle,” said Herrera.

The three injured women were rushed to the hospital, no word on their injuries.  Two people who were in the SUV are also being treated for injuries.

Police have not released the name of the woman who died.

Its a lost life it doesn’t matter the race.

    1. Mr Dude says:

Automobile accidents happen because one of the drivers is distracted, drunk or sleepy. In the majority of countries around the World it is illegal to use the phone while driving. Americans don’t want such a law in the United States and the result is more deaths. However, Americans have made a choice.

  3. Florida Goldengirl says:

HELLO ! ! These are BRITISH tourists, and in England they drive on the opposite side of the road. It is very difficult to reverse that and to be a safe driver. I know. In Kenya , and in St Thomas, VI also, they drive the same as in England. I had so many near misses when I drove in both places, it is a miracle I did not have an accident or cause one. And I have always been an excellent driver, no accidents ever. at age 75.
It is instinct and years of driving that cause us to look one way or the other to see if it is clear to pull out and that becomes the opposite if you reverse driving lanes. Add that the steering wheel is also on the other side of the vehicle and you have an accident waiting to happen.

    1. manny296 says:

Yes it is true, I was driving a moped in Bermuda once and I almost hit a car head on because I temperarly got confused on which side I was suppose to be on. The other one was in Hong Kong I was jay walking across the street looking the wrong way when a bus stopped on the other side of me. It scared the hell out of me.. I will never forget that … Thank God that Hong Kong bus driver was paying attention because if it would have been a Miami Bus driving I wouldn’t be here telling you this story… And Yes Hong Kong is a very nice place to visit. I would love to live there but it is too expensive for me…

    2. Mr Dude says:

I have been on close calls due to driving customs changing while traveling. I am alive today simply because on those occasions my “time was not up”

    3. Tarnia says:

BRITISH TOURISTS???? Have some respect.. i worked with the girl who died, regardless of cultural differences, a life has been lost, a family in mourning and a friend sadly missed. Show some respect and stop the speculation.

Thank you for writing this. It’s utterly tragic.

  4. Mike says:

I “used” to drive from Homestead to Miccosukee down Krome Ave. and let me sum it up in one word, scary! People drive like complete idiots and I’m surprised there aren’t dozens of accidents every day. People pass when there is oncoming traffic and I have seen a lot of “close calls”. People either drive 10mph or 100mph, no in between. I have also been tailgated many times even when I am going over the speed limit. Well, that is basically how everyone drives in Miami.

  5. Mike says:

Wow! The spelling and grammar from people who post on here is atrocious! Agein? What does that mean? Eiather? What does that mean? Familis? What does that mean? All caps = Annoying and I don’t even read it. Periods and question marks are used at the end of sentences also.

    1. Mari Lancis Rudd says:

….and your insensitivity is also atrocious, Mike.

      1. banana republic says:

No, Mike is only telling the truth!! People in mi-jami don’t care about anyone except themselves. It’s not only 8th st and krome ave that drive like a bunch of idiots, it’s everywhere that this is going on. Kendall Drive is another drag strip for idiots that speed in and out of traffic to get to the red light. If you can’t handle the truth from these comments, don’t read them!!

      2. WiseTibetanMonkey says:

Banana Republic populated by Banana Republicans?

Sorry, the truth is TOO BIG to swallow!!!

SUVs are murder weapons. You need a license to carry a concealed one but Motor and Vehicles will grant a driver license to any imbecile with a Social

I hate SUV it seems to me there are hardly cars anymore on the road, they annoy me they are so high up if you have a car you have no privacy and they block my view and anyhow who wood want to buy an suv with how the Gas prices are. Statistics show they are very dangerous , they tilt easily roll over very ease!!!

    1. WiseTibetanMonkey says:

They have higher bumpers and they are deadly to cars for that reason. They aim at the head.

I am completely disgusted that some of the people above seem to have lost the real cause behind this article. A young lady has just lost her life. She was a wonderful person and I for one am eternally grateful to the support she offered my sister over many years.
Road traffic collisions are horrible shocking tragedies and come as a complete shock. They are so devastating and have an emormous affect on all involved. As a police officer I attend these kind of collisions and hope that the American system prioritises family liaison and support for those involved on a parr with the support offered by the police in the UK.
This comment I hope will mark an end point to any further comments on the English language and national issues. The most important thing to remember is there are 3 girls over in America who need support and kind wishes sending to them at a truely devastating time and a network of family and friends in the UK who are struggling to come to terms with this event. The internet and wanting to know what has happened will inevitably mean that these people will read this article and therefore some sensitivity should be shown. My love goes out to all involved and all whom have been affected by this loss. Anyone who wants any support from me is more than welcome to get my phone number of my sister Lauren. H x

    1. margaret says:

I am the mother of one of the girls in the car, I have read everyone’s comments and am totally shocked and disgusted that there are people talking about British driver’s, grammer and nationality’s. A young beautiful girl with her whole life in front of her has been killed, lets not forget that for one moment. The aftermath is just a living nightmare for the other girls, not only losing their much loved friend but dealing with the shock and horror of it all and being so far away from home. Have some compassion.

  15. Paco Schwartz says:

Why would anyone want to come to Miami for a vacation you will only encounter VERY RUDE people and have terrible food. If you are thinking about having a family vacation in Miami/Broward DO NOT COME VIST THIS IS NOT A JOKE. If you happen not to read my post it is possible you will not come out of Miami alive or badly injured!

    1. WiseTibetanMonkey says:

      Why come to Miami?

Yeah, you rather go to Iraq for adventure!

  16. UK says:

A small minority of you make me sick and so angry, you should all be disgusted with yourselves. You need to stop this! How would you feel if your family members had been in a tragic car accident and you had to read some of these pathetic comments that have been written above!
I was was out in miami last week with my close friends who were involved in the accident, you need to have some consideration!
your an absolute discrace to your country!

    1. WiseTibetanMonkey says:

Regrettably, driving in America is treated like a joke, but the results are deadly!

      Russian Roulette at the wheel.

  17. Matthew Coulson says:

It was my daughter Rachel may coulson who died in the car crash. We still have very little information on what happened and we are finding it difficult to fly our daughters body home any help would be much appreciated.

    1. G says:

hi matthew im so sorry for your loss rachel was an amazing friend to me over the past 10 yrs id known her i cannot believe she is gone my thoughts are with you all x

    2. Mike C. says:

I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter Rachel. Her and her friends where making a left into the gator park where I had just arrived. While they where turning in they got hit by an SUV on right side of the car where Rachel was sitting in the back seat. I ran over to the car to check on everyone to find her unconscious with a head injury by that time the workers of the gator park where also there and on the phone with 911 and life flight was on the way. The ambulance arrived and she passed before life flight could land. I can tell you she passed away painlessly she was unconscious the whole time. I don’t know who’s fault it was or if speeding was involved. I don’t live in Florida I live in Pennsylvania so I have been trying to find out more info too. I also have lost two brothers one 21 in a car accident and one 29 in a house fire and I have always had questions with no answers. So if you have any more questions feel free to ask me. I would like to give anyone answers to there questions if I can . Once again I am so sorry for your loss this is a horrible tragedy and my heart goes out to her friends and family.

  18. WiseTibetanMonkey says:

There’s a Bermuda Triangle for accidents that goes from Miami to Los Angeles to New York. You try to drive a big truck (SUV) just to play it safe. The NW Pacific coast is somewhat to bicycles.

    1. WiseTibetanMonkey says:

“The NW Pacific coast is somewhat FRIENDLIER to bicycles.”

I ride Miami on grinding sidewalks, not the thing to do.

  19. Tarnia says:

I actually cannot believe the topics of conversation going on here. Firstly, you talk about the kind of cars that were involved, swiftly moving onto the grammar used – and then which i find highly disgusting, you question why these girls were visiting Miami in the first place.

What an absolute joke you people are. An accident took place, which in due course, will be investigated – meanwhile a beautiful friend died and you have the audacity to question the most ridiculous of questions.

Paco: What the hell does it matter why she was there? I cant believe how insensitive some people are – you are a disgrace to your country.

Have you read the comment from Mr Coulson, hows about taking the time to try and help this family out?

    1. UK says:

      Well said Tarnia!

  20. Southern Ireland says:

Rachael was a friend of my daughter`s and from what she has told me about her she was an amazing girl wih her whole life ahead of her!
My deepest sympathy to her family and friends in the UK!
    RIP Rachael.

  21. Callum says:

Absolute complete joke everyone that has posted on this page in such a disrespectful manner. Sit there punching into your computer thinking you are being hilarious or controversial. No you are just being a pathetic human being. The tragedy is that this well loved and wonderful young woman is no longer with us. My thoughts are with the family and friends of her. Americans wonder why the whole world hate them. You people are the reason.

  22. Bex says:

    RIP Rach. Totally Shocked.

  23. richard says:

RIP Rachel, you will be a miss, all the people you went to school with are in total shock. And to the minority rude americans who wrote on this topic you should be ashamed of yourselves. My thoughts are with everone involved in the car accident and the parents.

  24. R says:

    ❤ in our thoughts rachel

  25. Elina says:

On behalf of gator park team, sending our deepest condolences to Rachel’s family and friends. We are so very sorry for your loss.. A beautiful life is taken far too early. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Everyone here is still in shock. Wish we could be more helpful….

  26. S says:

A truly tragic loss of a young girl. My heart goes out to her loved ones. I hope they ignore the mindless comments on here – some people are truly ignorant. All of the people that had any contact with Rachel no matter how small feel this loss. I didn’t know her very well but she was a friendly face over the years in Manchester. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family and friends.

  27. Manchester says:

A incredibly talented and beautiful young lady has died,
a loss of life which has and will continue to effect many people,

    have some compassion,I’m disgusted.

    ❤ Rachel

  28. WiseTibetanMonkey says:

Are we drawing lessons for the future? None of course! Every analysis concentrates on the merits of the victim or the recklessness of some predatory driver. In another recent accident a guy doing 80mph on city streets hit a pedestrian who was partially dismembered. No thought whatsoever into placing SPEED CAMERAS, commonplace in the UK.

  29. mandy says:

r.i.p rachel,i can still picture you when you were little, god bless xxxxx

  33. sash says:

i have only just found out too! I knew Rachel from her home town from when we were at college together, and then later at university together where we became good friends. I went to visit rach twice in manchester the first time I had ever been to the city and I remember having a sore stomach from laughing for three days solid. Condolences to Rachels family, RIP rach.
