Nautica Triathlon Set To Close Miami Roads

MIAMI (CBS4) - The Nautica South Beach Triathlon is set for this Sunday and that means traffic headaches can be expected in and around downtown Miami and in Miami Beach.

The race officially starts at 7:00 a.m. in Miami Beach near 5th Street and Ocean Drive. The first biker should arrive in Miami by 7:30 a.m. As a result there will be several road closures.

NE 2nd Avenue will be closed north and southbound from NE 14th Street to NE 36th Street. Federal highway will be closed north and southbound from NE 36th Street to NE 39th Street.

Drivers heading north on Biscayne Boulevard from the downtown area will be sent west on 12th and 13th Streets to NE 1st Avenue to continue northbound.

Southbound drivers on Biscayne Blvd. won't be detoured, but should be ready for delays at NE 36th, 38th, and NE 14th Street.

In addition, the entrance ramps for I-195 from NE 36th Street and I-395 from NE 11th Terrace will be closed to drivers trying to head east from Biscayne Blvd. Drivers should use the Venetian Causeway to get to Miami Beach.

Miami Police expect the roads to open up around 10:40 a.m. when the last biker is expected to leave the city of Miami.
