Major Lane Shift Friday On I-595

DAVIE (CBS4 ) - If you use I-595 in Broward as part of your daily commute, you should know beginning Friday there will be a lane shift.

Starting at 5 a.m., drivers heading west between University Drive and Nob Hill Road will used a new section of road which will be the express lanes in the future.

According to CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald, the lane shift will actually begin Thursday night.

The reason for the shift is because workers need to demolish the existing westbound bridge over Pine Island Road.  In its place they will build a pair of new braided ramps and widen the westbound lanes.
