Diaper Deals & Delivery Too

MIAMI (CBS4) -- Diapers are a hefty expense for new parents. Now a company promises to help parents live the good life for less. Part of the pitch is convenience as well as savings.

Diapers are big business. The average baby goes through about 2,000 diapers a year, so a few pennies per diaper can mean a big savings.

Collette Pluss has three children in diapers. The trio goes through about 6,000 diapers in a year. That's big money and big boxes to haul home.

Pluss now uses diapers.com and she claims it's a life-saver.

"They come in two days and you don't have to carry that heavy box," Pluss said. "They come to your doorstep."

Pluss is a diaper.com devotee.

"I price checked it because they give the unit price, so I kind of know in my mind if I'm in the grocery store how much I get them per unit," she said.

Target also gives the unit price, which on a sale day is equivalent to the price offered online. Still the diaper debaters differ on whether waiting for the diaper delivery is decidedly better.

"Normally I just can't wait for to go online so I just go to Wal-Mart or Target," one mother told CBS4.

For Pluss, who says she can't even find a shopping cart big enough for her brunette brood, convenience is truly the bottom line.

On diapers.com, shipping is free with a minimum purchase and there are online coupons to help reduce the cost.

The creators of diapers.com are two dads who used to do those midnight diaper runs. It's now grown into the largest online baby care specialty site in the U.S.
