UM Advances To NIT Quarterfinals
MIAMI (CBS4) - The University of Miami men's basketball team is not ready to go quietly into the night just yet. Led by 20 points from Durand Scott, the Canes rallied to knock off Missouri State 81-72 in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament.
Missouri State led by as many as nine points in the first half before UM's Malcolm Grant hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer closed the gap to 32-26 at halftime.
Missouri State was led in scoring by Adam Leonard, who poured in 26 points. Leonard made 9 of 11 shots, including 7 of 8 three-pointers.
Miami is a number two seed in the NIT and is now set to play the winner of the Alabama-New Mexico matchup with a trip to Madison Square Garden for the NIT semifinals on the line.
