Roccos Tacos Brings Mexican Flavors To So. Fla.

FORT LAUDERDALE - (CBS4) - Just a few weeks ago, Roccos Tacos and Tequila Bar opened in Fort Lauderdale with a menu featuring tasty grilled steak tacos, chicken enchiladas and an assortment of Mexican fare at affordable prices.

"You can come in and get a glass of water and a taco for $3.95 and be on your way," said owner Rocco Mandel. "You can get a taco for $2.95 and get chips and salsa for $3.50."

Those looking for a hearty portion should try the "Baha Platter" which includes shrimp and mahi-mahi tacos as well as a spinach quesadilla at a cost of $9.99.

Diners can also sample from a wide variety of tequila – 225 brands of tequila to be exact. Pitchers of margaritas run for about $20 with the house specialty known as the Pomegranate margarita.

The Mexican restaurant seats 200 and its décor is filled with items Rocco has brought back from his native country.

"Seventy percent of the restaurant is from Mexico, all the décor, chandeliers from table tops to glassware to flatware – even many of the kitchen help are from Mexico as well," Mandel said.

The guacamole is made at your table and creating it is part of the show. Diners watch as Rocco's secret spice is added to the fresh avocados followed by salt, lime juice, tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, green chiles and jalapenos.

Tuesdays feature all-you-can-eat tacos for a flat rate of $14.99 and includes everything from shrimp to mahi-mahi tacos. They're open seven days a week. For more information about the restaurant or to view their menu, visit their website by clicking here.
