Lady Canes Run Record To 24-3

CORAL GABLES (CBS4) - While the Miami Hurricanes football and men's basketball team haven't sniffed a conference championship in years, the women's basketball team at "the U" continued its winning ways Monday night.

Led by Shenise Johnson's 19 points, the Canes routed Wake Forest 74-46. The win pushed the No. 12 Hurricanes record to 24-3 for the season. The Canes are also 10-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play this season.

The lady Canes led by 18 points at halftime, but the Demon Deacons closed the score to just 13 points with a little more than 13 minutes in the second half. The Hurricanes later went on a 14-2 run that increased their lead to 70-40.

The Canes' women's team is in contention to win the ACC regular season championship. They have games against Florida State and Georgia Tech to finish off the season. Miami is currently tied with Duke for the best record in the ACC.

The Canes' only losses have come against Duke, Florida State, and Nebraska.
