Caught On Video: Oakland Park Purse-Snatcher In Action

OAKLAND PARK (CBS4) -- Detectives from the Broward Sheriff's Office are hoping someone will recognize a suspect who broke into an Oakland Park woman's home to steal her purse while she sat just several feet away watching television.

BSO released surveillance video Wednesday of the burglar who snuck into the house, located in the 3400 block of NW 20th Avenue, the night of Saturday, Jan. 29th.

Evelyn Pignataro's home surveillance system may not have kept the burglar out of her home but it did catch him in the act. The video shows him walking into her backyard through a rear gate before he entered the house through a sliding glass door and stole her purse from a kitchen chair while she was watching TV nearby in the living room.

The video then shows him exiting the rear porch area carrying Pignataro's purse.

Pignataro didn't even know her purse was stolen until the next day and that's when she called police.

Anyone with information on this case or the identity of the suspect is urged to call BSO Oakland Park Detective James Ramirez at (954) 202-3131 or call Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
