Person Hurt In N. Miami Police Involved Shooting

NORTH MIAMI (CBS4) - A North Miami man was rushed to the hospital after being shot by a police officer.

It happened around 9 p.m. in the area of North Miami Court and 132nd Terrace.

Police spokesman Lt. Neal Cuevas said North Miami officers and officers from Opa-Locka were working in the area as part of a multi-agency task force.

Neighbors told CBS4 they heard up to 15 gunshots. They also said there had been a rash of burglaries in the area recently.

Police questioned several men who were in the area at the time of the shooting but released little information about the events that led up to the shooting itself.

"How these officers came about this house and this particular person being shot, that is all still under investigation," said Cuevas.

The injured man was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, no word on his condition.

Police said they had been keeping an eye on the neighborhood because of all the recent crime activity.
