Skies Filled With Thunder At Homestead Airshow

HOMESTEAD (CBS4) - Hundreds gathered over the weekend seeking the thrill of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and others as they thundered across the sky.

The two-day free air show "Wings Over Homestead" Air Show featured 17 different sky acts, including performances by the Blue Angels and the world famous Geico Skytypers, a flight squadron of six vintage WWII airplanes performing precision flight maneuvers.

The free show wrapped up at 5 p.m. at the Homestead Air Reserve base and even honored injured veterans with a special aerial display.

The world famous U.S. Navy Blue Angels headlined this year's show with their breathtaking aerobatic maneuvers, which included the 4-plane Diamond Formation and 6-jet Delta Formation. It was a graceful yet fast-paced, high-performance exhibition.

Wings Over Homestead featured everything from biplanes to supersonic jets.

The Air Force sponsors the show to thank South Floridians for their continued support of the military and veterans.
