FAST FACTS: Proper Flag Care And Disposal

Display the flag with the blue union field up. Displaying the flag upside-down is a distress signal only.

-Do not allow the flag to touch the ground, floor, water, or anything beneath it

-Keep your flag clean; do not allow it to become torn, damaged or soiled

-Do not expose your flag to rain, snow or exceptionally high winds

-The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.

-The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.

-No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform.

-Dispose of a tattered flag properly. You can learn how to do so here.
